Course Description:
Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) is a holistic approach that is multi-disciplinary, flexible, attachment-centered, and challenging. It is an evidence-based, trauma-informed intervention that is specifically designed for children who come from hard places, such as maltreatment, abuse, neglect, multiple home placements, and violence, but you’ll see that the principles apply to all children. TBRI® consists of three sets of harmonious principles: Connecting, Empowering, and Correcting Principles. The Introduction and Overview module teaches practical applications for individual sessions as well as small or large group settings. No prerequisites are required for this course. ** This training will not be recorded for viewing after the CMTE, but participants have the opportunity to join via Zoom (synchronously) if they are unable to attend the in person training.**

About Our Presenter Kristen King began her career with a Masters in Middle Childhood Education. After leaving the teaching field to care for their three young children, Kristen and her husband decided to foster and help children without a voice, most of whom were babies born-addicted. She quickly worked to develop and facilitate a foster family network of support. It was during this time she began to discover a new need and desire to support not only foster families and children in care, but the birth families as well. Kristen spent an extensive amount of time to become equipped and trained as a Trust-Based Relational Intervention Practitioner through the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development. She is also an independent trainer for the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program. Working with foster and adoptive families, children from hard places, and caseworkers across the state of Ohio allows her day to day experiences to help others. Her work also involves consulting and providing parental support as a team member in the Ross County Family Dependency Treatment Court. Her desire is to help families, no matter their background or situation, to be seen, heard and valued in order to begin authentic relational healing and make a generational change.
Trust-Based Relational Intervention: Introduction and Overview is approved by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) for 3 Continuing Music Therapy Education credits.
