World Music Therapy Week takes place each year in the month of April. During this week, music therapists are encouraged to engage in activities that increase awareness and advocacy for the profession. This week serves to highlight the connection music therapy has throughout the globe. A full week was designated to provide additional flexibility for all to engage in these activities.
In 2023, The World Federation of Music Therapy voted to replace World Music Therapy Day (previously held on March 1st) to World Music Therapy Week (now held April 10 -15th). Considering March 1st serves as the Disability Day of Mourning, this provides more opportunities to reflect and stand by all who are impacted.
